Funding NASA

NASA is currently one of the larger funded programs. Which is why politician and concern citizens asks the importance of some of its programs, like the moon project. So it is vital to ask if such expending is necessary with our trillion dollar deficit. Currently NASA is more than 30 billion dollars, which is less then 1% of the National Budget (Brainard). In contrast the military budget was 680 billion dollar in 2009 (Tiron). NASA like any other agency needs to be more efficient but their budget is minuscule compare to other programs that can be scale down.
